Representative Darin LaHood (IL-16) Supports a $30 Billion Cut to SNAP

“The price of SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) funding and other food safety nets have been one sticking point (in pending legislation); LaHood says he supports a current version (of the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2024) that has yet to reach the House floor…” (1)

According to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, that current version contains “...a roughly $30 billion cut in benefits for all SNAP participants in future years, based on Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates.” (2)
